2025 Extreme Heat Summit

This past August, leaders of the 2024-25 Bay Area Heat Mapping Campaign launched the Cool Cities Coalition by hosting the 2025 Extreme Heat Summit. The event featured public policy and emergency preparedness experts, who discussed best practices for protecting our cities against the threat of extreme heat. City leaders and residents in attendance not only learned about the effects of rising temperatures and how best to prepare for them, but also explored and shared ideas on how to build climate resilience on a community scale.

Heat Kits

As a part of the Extreme Heat Summit, the Cool Cities Coalition gave out 30 heat kits to community members. After receiving more funding, the Cool Cities Coalition has created and distributed 100 more heat kits to community members in partnership with the City of East Palo Alto.

Heat kits included items such as first aid kits, electrolyte packets, metal water bottles, ice packs, flashlights, batteries and more.
