WHAT IS S/CAP?
S/CAP, Palo Alto's Sustainability and Climate Action Plan, was first introduced in 2014.
The main goal of S/CAP is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. S/CAP also focuses on climate resilience, ecosystemic preservation and much more.
We, as PASCC, will mainly be looking at carbon emissions. In the grand scheme of climate change, Palo Alto’s carbon emissions are going to have a longer-term impact compared to the other, qualitative goals of S/CAP.

Dark Sky Ordinance Passed!
Palo Alto's Dark Sky Ordinance has just been passed! 🙌
Thanks to myriad speakers, including PASCC members, who rallied support at two late-night hearings, light pollution in the City of Palo Alto is now on track to significantly decline. 🌃 Local action is a catalyst for greater change, and we hope that this decision will inspire the adoption of stricter artificial lighting guidelines in more cities across the region!
